PROJECT DETAILS

  • Construct a new connector roadway to extend Barbadoes Street between Lafayette Street and Washington Street;
  • The connector will provide access to business properties located along Water Street for westbound traffic on Main Street that was previously restricted under the Markley Street Improvement Project construction;
  • The connector will be approximately 250 feet long with a curb-to-curb width of 30 feet;
  • The connector will be stop-controlled at the intersection with Lafayette Street;
  • The new intersection of Washington Street and the connector will be stop-controlled in all three directions;
  • The SRT will also be stop-controlled at this intersection;
  • The connector will require relocation of approximately 950 linear feet of the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT), in coordination with Montgomery County Division of Parks, Trails & Historic Sites;
  • The SRT will be realigned and provide an at-grade crossing of the Barbadoes Street connector at the proposed intersection with Washington Street;
  • A five-foot sidewalk is proposed on the east side of the connector road to provide access between SRT and Lafayette Street;
  • ADA appropriate facilities will be provided for the SRT and sidewalk at the intersection with the connector road;
  • Post-construction stormwater management facilities will include a new rain garden along the SRT; and
  • A temporary trail will be provided within the project site during construction. The temporary trail will be signed and maintained within temporary concrete barriers and fencing.
