Construction Staging and Schedule
During the first stage of construction, which starts in early 2020, Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) will be restricted to one-way southbound between Elm Street and Main Street to provide sufficient space for crews to work safely.
During the current stage of construction, crews may be working weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the northbound side of Markley Street. No additional lane closures on Markley Street are planned at this time.
Northbound Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) travelers will be detoured onto DeKalb Street (U.S. 202 North) starting at King Manor, at the northern approach of the Dannehower Bridge. PennDOT will modify the timing of traffic signals on DeKalb Street to enhance traffic flow during the Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) partial closure.
PennDOT's goal is to minimize inconvenience to adjacent property owners, pedestrians, and motorists in the construction areas.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained on at least one side of Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) at all times
- A supplemental pedestrian detour route will be provided on Astor Street between Marshall Street and Main Street until pedestrian access is established on the new bridge over Stony Creek
Night-time operations will be utilized during the installation of precast pavement panels to reconstruct the intersection of Main Street and Markley Street (U.S. 202 South). The night-time operation will start after the evening peak travel hours and be completed prior to the next morning's peak travel hours, thereby minimizing additional travel disruptions.
Existing ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) elements installed during the Section 520 project and connected to the PennDOT Traffic Management Center in King of Prussia, will monitor traffic flow and provide travel information to motorists on and approaching Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) and DeKalb Street (U.S. 202 North).
